Who do these guys think they are? This International Astronomical Union thinks they are THE "IT" people when it comes to all things heavenly! I grew up believing their were NINE planets (Pluto included). It needs to stay that way. Yet another example of scientists being so concerned about whether they CAN do something, they didn't stop to ask whether they SHOULD do that thing.
I mean, after all, the crap they pass off as science is pseudoscience anyway. Their definition of a planet is as follows:
"a planet not only must orbit the sun and be large enough to assume a nearly round shape, but must "clear the neighborhood around its orbit."
That just seems a little vague to me. Bad science.
Based on these qualifications, Pluto "lost" it's classification as a planet....stupid...
They act like they just kicked Pluto out of the solar system for not being a planet. As one scientist put it, "it ain't over".
Will we ever stop worrying about things that aren't so important, and get back to the things that really are?

Guess what???
I'm gonna be a daddy...again.
For anyone who doesn't know, I already have a 5-year old boy. Well, today, I found out that I'm gonna be a daddy again. My wife took a home test this morning, but it was a little vague. So, we went to a clinic. They used a dollar-store pregnancy test!!! Only in South Mississippi! It was "indeterminate".
So, we went to a doctor, gave some blood for a serum test, and the results shortly. "Positive!"
'Nuff said.

Chicago's Foie-Gras Fiasco
This one's just golden. Welcome to the world we live in!!!!!
In the news today... Chicago votes to ban Pate de Foie Gras. I'm all for this one.
On the surface, it looks like a blatant disregard for our right to choose what we want to eat. Plunge a little deeper, however, and we find it to be a battlefront of restaurateurs and animal rights activists.
Now, I know what you're thinking (at least, I think I do...). You're thinking, "I'm getting about sick of these bird huggers getting in the way of everything.
Try this out for yourself.
The farms force feed the geese and ducks from an early age with metal tubes. They have no gag reflex which allows this to happen. However, some of these farms are literally force feeding to the point of choking these animals to death. Their livers swell to 10 times their normal size. It has been reported that some of the birds' livers are so swelled that lifting the birds causes the liver to rupture causing excruciating pain until the bird dies of internal hemorrhaging. Then, these often-times diseased livers are mixed with a few herbs and spices and packaged up to be served to the wealthy and upper-crust (serves 'em right).
Perhaps not all of the farms are so brutal, but let's just say you won't catch ME eating any Foie Gras. I have more respect for animals than I do humans. The circumstances behind this incident explain why. You won't catch a lion fattening up a lamb so it can dice it's liver up and serve it to it's friends.
"Oh, Leo, darling. I love what you've done with the cave. It's just lovely. By the way, what IS this lovely pate? Oh, lamb liver, you say. How original. I love it. You must give me your recipe." PLEASE.
If an animal is hungry, it chases, kills, and eats what it's after (occasionally, a cat will play with it's prey, but that's a different story). That's the circle of life and death. What these farms are doing to these geese... dare I say, Inhumane? No, no. Inhumane indicates humans being better. Let's say, InANIMANE instead.
Enough griping.

Well, this takes the cake....
Recently, in our area, we had three Drug Task Force officers who were arrested, and face charges, of corruption (embezzlement, planting evidence, using an axe-handle on a suspect, etc.). This story comes to us in light of MANY other stories of police corruption, some of which involves people I know personally!
Ok, here is my beef: with cops like these on the streets, why should we be willing to stop when they flash their lights at us? Why shouldn't we shoot at these bastards when they try to pull us over!!!???
I'll admit, that's a bit harsh. I realize there are good, decent cops who belong to the various parts of law enforcement. (Perhaps they should find other jobs!) However, when you have cops like these and others who abuse their power, set innocent (or nearly innocent) people up for crimes they didn't commit, steal materials and money from their departments, and brutalize people just because they don't like them, they leave us all in the unenviable position of not knowing who we can feel safe around and who we can't. I don't want to say "I support violence against police." I don't want to say "I don't support violence against police." But, when we can't tell if the officer who just pulled us over is going to write us a ticket or tazer us in the genitals, beat us with a club, and plant a couple of ounces of cocaine in our pocket because we're the wrong color, or because we don't drive a fancy car, or because they know us and don't like us, what choice do we have?
We can no longer assume that because we didn't do anything wrong, we can expect to be treated with peace and respect by police officers. We can't trust our police anymore. It's that simple. God Help Us All!

Dang...
Dang... I hate computers. Ha ha. That's pretty funny, because anyone who knows me, knows that I've been playing with computers since I was...like... 10! I literally have 23 years experience with computers. That's just ridiculous. Nobody loves these pieces of junk THAT much.
The current object of my love/hate relationship is this "blog thang". I've been trying for days now to post via my Crackberry. No matter what I try, I get these error messages back telling me the posting failed. I can't tell you how many good/decent posts I've typed, retyped, sent, resent, and finally just trashed because I got sick and tired of looking at them.
And, don't mention the help files here on blogger. It doesn't work. I've found every conceivable problem that can occur on this site and the solution thereto....except the one I'm having a problem with. >:-<
Anyway, whatever! I DO NOT CARE!
I'll just post from the site itself. That'll cure the problem.....I hope!
